RESOURCES
TKARONTO Indigenous Peoples Portal
https://live.indigenousto.ca/
Established by the Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council (TASSC), the TKARONTO Indigenous Peoples Portal (TIPP) is a resource that offers the local urban Indigenous community centralized and timely access to information on programs and services, career opportunities, events and businesses. A broad range of Indigenous- specific information are available to users, spanning areas such as culture and community, health and harm reduction, child, youth and family services, legal services, housing and shelter supports, education and employment, art, advocacy and local vendors. The TIPP highlights the diversity of resources, assets and opportunities available to Indigenous community members including shelter clients who frequently face difficulty accessing culturally appropriate supports and services. The portal can improve capacity of shelter service providers to better support Indigenous clients by enhancing staff knowledge and awareness of and connection to Indigenous organizations and initiatives, identifying new partnership and collaboration opportunities and reinforcing commitment to advancing reconciliation across the organization.

Thunder Women Healing Lodge Society
https://twhls.ca/
Thunder Women Healing Lodge Society (TWHLS) is a community-driven initiative dedicated to addressing the over-representation of Indigenous women in Canada’s prison system. Founded with an Indigenous-led approach, TWHLS offers trauma-informed, culturally appropriate support to First Nation, Inuit, Métis, and 2SLGBTQIA+ women who are transitioning out of the justice system. Recognizing the ongoing national crisis of Indigenous women’s over-incarceration, TWHLS aims to break the cycle that has historically targeted Indigenous communities—through measures such as Residential Schools, the 60s Scoop, and now the mass incarceration of Indigenous women. The organization focuses on healing and restoration, providing the tools and support needed for women to reintegrate into their communities, reclaim their identities, and thrive, ultimately reducing the number of Indigenous women in jails.
